1st Generation Mercedes-Benz SLK Class Acceleration Problems

The Mercedes-Benz SLK is a sporty convertible roadster that the German auto giant has been producing for nearly twenty years. Three generations of this class of luxury roaster have been produced and all have received positive reviews from Benz fans. That's not to say that they don't sometimes experience mechanical issues that need to be addressed. They do.

Some drivers of the Mercedes-Benz SLK convertible series have complained of encountering issues with the acceleration of their vehicles. Some drivers, surprised at first, have blamed the problem on the cruise control. When this has occurred repeatedly, they have ruled out cruise control as a contributing factor, however.

Some SLK drivers have reported that after a period of sustained driving, about an hour or more, at speeds of between 80 and 90 miles per hour, the car will experience a delay in acceleration once the vehicle has come to a complete stop. The delay only last between four and five seconds, but it is enough to draw notice as well as inspire concern. The only way to fix this problem once it has occurred, and return the vehicle to normal acceleration, it to turn of the engine and restart the car. As well, some drivers have reported that using the cruise control initially will prevent this problem from happening in the first place.

If you are the owner of a Benz SLK and have experienced this problem, you should consider taking your car into to be checked out by an authorized German Import technician
